A while ago my brother said he was going to cycle from London to Paris and get tickets to see 'Sting' and 'Paul Simon.' If you know my brother then he is probably one of the most relaxed, unorganised people you have ever met. So the idea of him on his own at nineteen cycling to Paris, did seem a little crazy, especially with no proper plan or sense of direction (sorry Georgie if you are reading this!) To cut the long story short this then ended up in my mum and dad booking tickets to go with my brother to the concert and booking the train to take them there. Somehow along the way myself and my sister also ended up being involved to come with the rest of my family to Paris (just not to the concert!) I have always wanted to go to Paris but never had the chance to go. I always forget how relatively close places in Europe are to us and how lucky we are. When I stayed with one of my school friends in Canada for the last two summers she reminded me of how far it would take her to get to Europe and that it would be quicker for me to get to Paris than her to travel to somewhere in Canada as it is HUGE! ♥
Day 1
This time last week we set of at 3am (yes absolutely hideous) to make the train from Folkestone to Calais. We actually made good time so managed to get on one of the earlier trains. It literally took no time at all to get to France...quite a weird experience really to suddenly be in another country in just over half an hour! We had about a three hour journey from Calais to then get to the apartment we were staying at in Paris. When we got there we all had a relaxing morning/afternoon, unpacking and then headed out to explore where we were staying. We had a late lunch and then went to Sacré-Cœur Basilica...where we got the most amazing views across Paris. If you didn't know (I didn't) then Sacré-Cœur Basilica is a Roman Catholic church and is a popular landmark in Paris, located on the highest point of the city in Montmartr (photos below!) ♥
Had the nicest salad with goats cheese on baguette slices. ♥
It was a rainy day on the Friday but it was still amazing to see the church. ♥
Views we got from the top of Sacré-Cœur Basilica! Would obviously be a lot clearer on a sunnier day. You can't see in this photo but behind the trees you could see the Eiffel Tower. ♥
As my mum, dad and brother had gone to the concert that evening me and my sister decided to go to a patisserie. We had literally the most amazing hot chocolates and some kind of brioche cake which we shared. We did actually ask for another cake too, but I don't think the lady understood what we said! ♥
We were both so tired that evening so we watched 'Safe Haven' on my laptop and snacked on sweets. If you haven't seen this film and enjoy girlie kind of films then I would definitly recommend watching it. I had seen it a few times before but my sister hadn't (she is a bit of a wimp though and did find some parts scary...so if you are like her then maybe watch it with someone!) ♥
Day 2
The next day we walked miles! We basically did all the main 'touristy' places. It was such a good day though and made me realise how much I LOVED Paris...it is so beautiful. I took lots of photos so I am going to put some of my favourites below...♥
The Arc de Triomphe was huge! Reminded me so much of the film 'Mr Bean's Holiday!' ♥
It was amazing inside. ♥
Even though my sister is quite a lot shorter than me, this photo makes me look like a giant! ♥
First time seeing the Eiffel Tower...I was clearly very happy! ♥
I couldn't believe how much bigger it seemed than in films or photos. ♥
Me and my dad did really want to go up to the top of the tower but unfortunately there was a two hour queue which we didn't fancy waiting in. ♥
Had so much fun hiring a bike to cycle round some of the streets in Paris. ♥
We stopped for lunch at a really nice restaurant, which again did the BEST hot chocolates. How could you turn down a jug of melted chocolate?! ♥
I had a vegetarian plater. It was so yummy and very healthy! ♥
SOOO many adorable shops in Paris. ♥
We went to this shop and brought some cheese for our dinner that evening. The French people in there were getting really annoyed at us for eating the samples of cheese! (Why put samples of cheese out though, if they don't appreciate you wanting to try them!?) ♥
The Pont de l'Archevêché (love lock) bridge. Couldn't believe how many padlocks there actually were. Was trying to find Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick's padlock but there was so many it was impossible. Also the main part of the bridge has now been covered with boards to prevent people putting anymore padlocks on the bridge because apparently some of it had started to collapse. ♥
Sibling love!!! ♥
Me on a bridge by Notre Dame. ♥
♥ ♥ ♥
Paris is full of surprises...a man playing the piano in the middle of the road. ♥
Day 3
Our last day was sooo sunny, it was bliss. We had another brilliant day!!! ♥
Pretty tree. ♥
Beautiful park we went to. If any of you are interested then my bag is Ted Baker (present I got for my 21st), my coat is Juicy Couture, jeans are River Island and my black boots are Marks and Spencer. ♥
♥ ♥ ♥
My dad, sister and me! ♥
My brother loves any dog and seems to also attact every dog in sight. Have to admit though this one is gorgeous. ♥
So there was a massive funfair going on in the park and I am the biggest big kid ever whenever I see a funfair. I just love the vibes of funfairs, everyone is always super happy and seeing and hearing people screaming on rides makes me want to go on them! It also always reminds me of the Jacqueline Wilson book 'Candyfloss' which I used to read all the time when I was younger. So I begged my sister and brother to come to the funfair with me and we ended up going on the ferris wheel. ♥
On the ferris wheel. ♥
Can't have a photo with one sibling and not the other! ♥
Views were amazing! Can you spot the Eiffel Tower? ♥
If you are a fan of magnums like me then I urge you to try this one. It is raspberry and oh my goodness it was A...M...A...Z...I...N...G! ♥
How tiny and cute is this car? This would be ideal for me, although my head would probably touch the roof! ♥
What I loved about Paris is that anywhere you went there was always something around the corner which surprised you. ♥
Looking at this picture of all this gorgeous cakes is making me so hungry (even though I have just had tea!)♥
Such a pretty sign. ♥
For so long I have wanted to buy some macaroons. So as my brother owned me money he brought me some and they were nice but I have to say did all taste quite similar! ♥
Another cute street (and signs!)♥
I am going to stop posting photos now as I have probably bored some of you to tears with how long this blog post has gone on for. I do however, really love writing about trips/holidays I have gone on. I think it is so nice to look back on especially when you are feeling abit down as it always reminds you of happy memories. If any of you are reading this and haven't been to Paris then I would hundred percent recommend it as little getaway city break. It honestly was a truly beautiful place that had sooo much to offer. Now I really want to go again! ♥
I am also starting to update my 'tabs' at the top of my blog. I want to start making it more organised and categorising posts into different sections. Thank you for reading and hope you have a lovely weekend. ♥
XOXOXOX
