Mauritius

Hello!! Firstly, I just wanted to explain why my blog looks so untidy...basically I accidentally deleted the title and icons on google + which was where they were all saved under! Yes I realise how stupid this was of me but I had no idea that if I deleted them of there it would automatically delete them from my blog (if you don't have a clue what I am going on about then don't worry, haha!) So I really need to update the title and icons again but I haven't had the time and as I am on holiday at the moment the internet isn't great so it is very hit and miss when it actually works!! However, I will definitly make it look nicer again as soon as I can (sorry again.) I wanted to write a post about my holiday in Mauritius which I came back from on Sunday (well actually Monday...the flight was 11 hours so technically took a day.) Myself and my boyfriend had a lovely time and were both blown away at how beautiful Mauritius was (cliche as that sounds.) We did realise before we went that it was the Mauritian winter so we were aware that it may be rainy some days and slightly cloudy. However, it was cloudy ALOT and rained ALOT!! Nevertheless, this didn't stop us having a brilliant time and enjoying the culture, food and adventures the island had to offer.

The hotel we stayed at (Belle Mare) was just amazing! Everything from the food, to the friendliness of the staff, to the beach and views from our balcony. We had expected it to be good because of the fantastic reviews on trip advisor...but it really was lovely. (I will probably do another post in a few months on the hotel and location etc as I admit I am writing this post in a bit of a rush because it is 35 degrees here in Italy and I am itching to get back into the blazing sunlight!)

I am now writing the rest of this post on the plane back from Italy (the internet decided to fail on me when I was last writing this blog post.) I have my headphones plugged into my laptop as loud as they can possibly go as there is a baby who has not stopped crying since we boarded the flight an hour ago (already have the biggest headache!) So anyway...Mauritius....I can't actually remember what we did each day but our days generally consisted of soaking up the sun (when it came out), making the most of the all inclusive drinks/food, snorkelling in the sea, exploring the town and going on a round the island boat trip. I am going to post a selection of just some of the many photos I took below, before I carry on rambling about a load of irrelevant things!

The hotel...Yes I totally thought that was a Jacuzzi and stepped in it...but it was just a feature and the water was freezing haha!

I have never been somewhere with such amazingly, clear, blue waters. We saw so many tropical fish and were lucky enough to go on a glass bottom boat and snorkelling to experience the true wonders of the Indian Ocean!

The food was brilliant (this bruschetta, which was a starter in the Italian restaurant was amazing!) I have been on three other all inclusive holidays prior to Mauritius and I have to say the food at Belle Mare was definitely the best out of the other hotels. There was two restaurants (an Italian and a restaurant on the beach mainly serving seafood) as well as the buffet each night at Belle Mare consisting of Mauritian curries. I would definitly say that the two restaurants which you had to book at the start of the day (Italian and seafood) were much better quality foods than the buffet...this could also be because the one night we did go to the buffet restaurant, the following day we both felt really ill! However, like I said the food from the two restaurants which we booked for were brilliant and it was lovely to be able to chose a starter, main and dessert from a set menu, which felt much more personal and more of an occasion.

The pool, which looks empty (I think this was taken just after Breakfast so was probably before most people had eaten.)

The beaches were probably the nicest beaches I have ever been to (I do love the beaches in Greece as well though!) The water stayed shallow for ages, so you could go really far out without having to swim to stay afloat!) If you are interested then the hat I am wearing is from Primark, my bikini is from River Island and the shawl (I can't remember the proper name for it...but I  am guessing you will know what I mean) is also from Primark. You can't see from this photo but I am also wearing some black jelly shoes!! I know...I used to LIVE in jelly shoes when I was little, I remember having pink sparkling ones and my sister having matching in purple. Anyway, these jelly shoes were brilliant because the sea did have quite a lot of rocks in and if you are like me and hate stepping on seaweed etc then these shoes cover and protect your feet! I still remember being in Greece a few years ago and I was in the sea with my sister when I stepped on a sea urchin. I lifted my foot above the water and SCREAMED!!! My whole sole of my foot was covered in the needle/spikes of the urchin and I remember being petrified (I was absolutely fine if you are wondering....was just being me and overreacting, but hey it was scary!) So these shoes for me were definitly a very good purchase and I will be continuing to take them on holidays...they are also really comfy and look quite cool with shorts or day dressers.

Me before going for dinner. I am wearing a very bright, yellow dress (which you can obviously see, haha) from Topshop and the shoes were actually from Clarks in the sale last year. I did curl my hair but I did it in a bit of a rush so thats why it doesn't look that curly. (Also my hair is super thick and long, so unfortunately it feels like it takes a decade to curl it properly and you are left with a throbbing arm afterwards!)

The pineapple was literally the nicest pineapple I have ever had! I am guessing it is because they grow it there so it is of course a lot more fresh. Also the cocktails were amazing and we  had so many to chose from all tasting delicious! Again I have found before at all inclusive hotels that the cocktails especially can taste either sooo strong or pretty much al the same, but these ones were completely different and I loved how you could have mocktails too!

Not quite sure what I was doing in this picture...haha!

 Having dinner on the beach.

 Cocktails by the pool.

Chocolate dessert I had in the Italian resturant (was amazing!)

 How pretty are these flowers?!

On the boat trip we went on around the island we saw MONKEYS! I was so excited, haha...they were so cute!

Was a beautiful sunset on the beach when this photo was taken. My dress is from Zara and I am wearing the same shoes in the previous photo from Clarks.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and seeing the photos. Hopefully I will write another blog post at some point on Mauritius and what I packed/wore etc in a bit more detail. We are getting back to England at 12:00am and then I have Sunday at home (need to get my last injection though) before going back to Gatwick early Monday to get a flight to Dubai!! Having a lovely summer so far, but it has been so stressful sorting out things for Dubai/India and Nepal whilst being away. Unfortunately I am not taking my laptop with me to India so I probably won't be writing another post for 4 or 5 weeks...sorry! Hope you all have a lovely summer and I can't wait to write lots of posts about my time in Italy and my travelling when I am back!!! Lots of love

XOXOXOX
